what lens should i get?

i have a canon 40d. i photography wildlife. i am looking to buy a tele zoom lens. i want it to be a l-series and it cant be over 1500 dollars.

Gee, that is too bad you have such a low budget for your wildlife photography.

L-Series already increases the cost of the lens. Then considering the length of lens you need, you will pay the big money for it.

Canon makes a EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM that may be affordable at $5300 for some wildlife photographers, so here is the link to the Canon lenses from 400mm to 600mm

Look at this lens .. it is within your budget, but be aware that shooting animals is usually done during their feeding time, dawn and dusk, so the faster the lens the better.

Canon Telephoto EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Autofocus Lens is under $1100 but very slow or Zoom Telephoto EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Autofocus Lens for under $1500 .... while slow, it does have IS ... but if the animal is moving, all bets are off.
