What is a versatile general purpose I buy for a Canon 400D?
I'm in the market for a digital SLR camera (either a 400d or my father will soon be updated 20D) and am having some trouble deciding what the goal for the purchase in general. I provisionally arrested a 70-200mm f / 4 L USM to telephoto, which seems to find a good balance between value and quality. Not much money to play with the objective of general purpose: I am considering 50mm f/1.4 USM and 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. have comments on these and other suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Canon has a fairly large number of lenses of readiness, and can be quite difficult to choose only the most suited to their needs. The 70-200mm f / 4 L USM has rave reviews. First 50mm you mentioned, also fares well. The 24-85mm has mediocre reviews.
